1. Our Facility
KenMont and KenWood Camps reside on a magnificent 200-acre property with high pine forests, rolling hills and pristine lakefront shore lines. The separate and equal program areas at KenMont and KenWood camps are absolutely among the best in the camping industry. All our campers stay in modernized cabins equipped with electricity, lighting, and interior bathroom and shower facilities. Our dining halls are spacious, comfortable and air-conditioned, where campers and staff sit together at round tables and enjoy family style meals. Activity areas are beyond compare with 18 tennis courts, 8 indoor and outdoor basketball courts, 3 hockey rinks, 4 baseball fields, 3 soccer fields, a huge gymnasium/field house, a gymnastics pavilion, beach volleyball courts, ropes adventure course with climbing wall, zip line, Bungee Trampoline, GoKarts, mountain biking trails, skatepark, archery ranges, fully equipped theatres and creative arts centers, radio broadcasting station, videography, photography darkroom, complete state of the art watersports facilities on our 130 acre lake plus heated pool, and a 9-hole golf course.

2. Staff Facilities And Recreation

Staff are provided with recreation and relaxation time during a daily period off, several nights off each week, and eight days off during the summer season. Night off bus rides to and from several nearby towns are available free of charge (Bowling, Movies, Restaurants). Special facilities for staff on campus include a Staff Lounge with big screen cable TV and Internet access, a Staff Gym (with weight lifting and aerobic equipment), and a Canteen Shop with snack foods and arcade games. Staff are also welcome to use our athletic facilities while not in use by scheduled camper activity periods. A complimentary laundry facility is also available to all staff in addition to weekly laundry service provided by the camp.

3. Our Location
Our magnificent 200 acre property is nestled in the Berkshire Mountains of New England, just minutes from the famous Appalachian Trail, only a 2 hour drive from New York City, and 3 hours from Boston. |

The local town of Kent, 4 miles from camp, is a classic New England village with craft shops, summer fairs, restaurants and pubs. Also nearby you will find the Housatonic River renowned for its whitewater kayaking and waterfalls, beautiful State Parks, and of course outstanding shopping malls as well. On some staff days off we provide staff transportation to the Metro North Train Station so staff can visit New York City. if you wish to visit Boston you must rent a car, have a car or go with other staff who have cars.The Appalachian Trail is also 4 miles from camp.

6. What is a Brother/Sister camp?
As Brother/Sister camps, KenMont for Boys and KenWood for Girls operate as two Camps, each with equal but separate facilities, staff and programs, sharing a common philosophy and Directorship. The Camps do join together from time to time for Special Event days such as a 4th of July Carnival and Fireworks Celebration, Theater Presentations, and well supervised Socials similar to those held at single gender camps. Our KenMont and KenWood staff have ample time to socialize away from campus during nights out and days off. We maintain a strict policy of no public displays of affection amongst staff on campus.

7. How long are your camp sessions?
Our camp program is structured around two 4-week sessions, each providing a complete camp experience from beginning to end. Campers in each session arrive together and leave together fostering the optimal social dynamic for camp living and the development of friendships. Our staff season is 9-weeks long including a one week orientation. An additional week is required for waterfront and ropes adventure staff for necessary certifications.

8. What programs do our camps offer? |

The fully rounded camp program provides campers with an abundance of athletic and non-athletic choices that are geared to all ability levels, from novice to advanced. The camps are recognized for state-of-the-art facilities in all program areas.
Waterfront Activities include instructional and recreational swimming at both a pool and a lake as well as kayaking, canoeing, sailing, waterskiing and wakeboarding on our magnificent 130-acre lake.

Team Sports consist of soccer, baseball, basketball, lacrosse, volleyball, flag football, and street / roller hockey and are programmed from beginner instructional levels to competitive team play. Individual Sports are highlighted by WoodMont Hills Golf Club, an executive 9 hole golf course with PGA pro instruction, as well as a premier Tennis program staffed by the finest professionals from instructional academies around the world making use our 18 tennis courts. Other individual sports include gymnastics, archery, skateboarding, extreme skating as well as general fitness and weight training. |

Creative Arts activities allow campers to work in areas of pottery, jewelry making, textiles and crafts. In addition to favorite camp activities such as launching a rocket and the famous soap box derby, with cars built and raced by KenMont and KenWood campers. In addition, there are programs in photography, videography (film making), radio broadcasting and vegetable gardening.
Performing Arts offer instruction and performance at all levels. Emphasis is on Musical Theater and Modern Dance. There are two theater facilities and a dance studio, all fully equipped.
The Adventure Program at KenMont and KenWood Camps allows campers of all skill levels to learn and enjoy aspects of expedition leadership, rock climbing, high and low ropes elements, bungee trampoline, GoKarts and outdoor camping and cooking skills.

9. What is the age and experience of our staff?
All staff are required to have completed their 1st year of college to be eligible for hire at our camps. Many of our returning staff have been with us for as long as five to twenty-five years providing wonderful continuity and a foundation for camp traditions. Our veteran staff such as Head Counselors, Division Leaders and Head Specialist provide ample support and guidance to first year counselors.

12. Where do our campers come from?
Approximately 60% of our campers are from the Tri-State area including Manhattan, Westchester, Long Island, New Jersey and Connecticut. We also have many camp families from Philadelphia, Maryland, Florida, and Los Angeles. In addition campers join us from various cities of the Midwestern and Southwestern states, as well as several European and South American countries.

14. What type of medical care and insurance is available to staff?
KenMont and KenWood have a live-in medical team comprised of a Medical Doctor and six full time Registered Nurses. Our fully equipped infirmary, detailed emergency procedures and 20 minute proximity to area hospitals, create a safe environment for our entire camp community. Workman’s compensation insurance is provided automatically to all staff for any injuries that could happen in the workplace. Camp does not provide insurance to cover medical expenses not related to your work at camp.

15. Are you a uniform camp?
Yes. We believe that by having campers wear our simple uniform every day, the dynamic of competitive dressing is eliminated, allowing a more relaxed camp environment. Staff wear white shirts and navy blue shorts.

16. How often is laundry done?
Camper and counselor laundry is done on premises once a week, with same day turnaround. There are also laundry machines on camp to use free of charge during your time off.

What types of food do you serve?
Our food is delicious by any standard prepared by a Chef and cooking team from a prestigious New England University. We serve buffet style, providing a wide variety of foods at every breakfast, lunch and dinner, so that campers can always have a meal that includes food they really like to eat. Campers sit at round tables with their bunkmates and counselors.
