Choosing the right camp for your child is a very personal decision. It is a process which should involve the participation of parents and children together. Some of the key points to consider are:
  • Readiness
  • Interests
  • Supervision and Safety
  • A co-ed / brother-sister / or, single gender camp experience
  • Length of Stay
  • Structured diversity and choice
  • Facility
  • Philosophy
  • History

How long have your camps been in operation?

KenMont and KenWood Camps were established in 1924.

Where are the camps located?

What is the philosophy of our camps?

Our emphasis is on having our campers build lasting friendships within a family atmosphere of warmth and caring. Our camp environment nurtures development of individual character, self-confidence, and the learning of new skills. Diversity and choice are offered within the boundaries of a structured program, assuring that each and every camper is included and that no one is left out. Everyone is made to feel that this is his or her home away from home, where new friends learn to live together and each camper can find their own level of accomplishment

What is a Brother/Sister camp?

As Brother/Sister camps, KenMont for Boys and KenWood for Girls operate as two distinct Camps, each with equal but separate facilities, staff and programs, sharing a common philosophy and Directorship. The camps do join together from time to time for Special Event days such as 4th of July Fireworks Celebration, Theater Presentations, and well supervised Socials similar to those held at single gender camps.

How long are your camp sessions?

Our camp program is structured around two 4-week sessions, each providing a complete camp experience from beginning to end. Campers in each session arrive together and leave together, fostering the optimal social dynamic for camp living and the development of friendships.

Are your camps competitive?

The degree of competitive or non-competitive program is completely flexible based on each child's choice program. A competitive camper can choose to participate in intramural sports leagues, inter-camp competitions and tournament play, satisfying even the most competitive spirit. Inherent in all our competitive programs are the fundamentals of sportsmanship and fair play. Many campers do not enjoy the competitive dimensions of athletics but wish to participate and improve their skills. Athletics within our core program emphasize enjoyment, skill development and a constant nurturing by our staff to enhance each child's confidence.
